If it was about the kids why didn't they strike during the summer months prior to the new school year? Sure, they have less leverage but if they would negotiate in good faith (with the goodwill of the kids at the forefront), all could have been worked out prior to school start date.

I'm afraid of a world run by adults that were never spanked as kids and got trophies just for participating
