If there's a thin layer of sand covering it maybe you're talking what 1 percent sand? Real tough.
The whole point of a monofill is to cheaply store waste to one day recycle it. The notion is laughable that scooping up a buffet of plastic is expensive. NYSE: RKT generates thousands of tons of plastic waste a day that is delivered to plastic-only monofills by the truck full.
Example from a Smurfit-Stone chatboard 3/13/11....
"Heard that one of the smurfit truck drivers went to landfill today an sercuity stop him at gate and asked him where was he going. Mean while gate closed on truck that had smurfit on the side with a load of plastic for smurfits landfill coming from the mill. same truck that has been dumping there 24/7 for the past two weeks that sercuity has been there. TOO FUNNY!!!"
