Evangelical author David Barton's controversial Thomas Jefferson book, which was dropped by its publisher for inaccuracies last week .. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/us-news-blog/2012/aug/13/book-thomas-jefferson-complaints-inaccuracies .., may have found a new home with Glenn Beck .. http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/book-news/religion/article/53619-jefferson-lies-author-negotiating-new-edition-for-glenn-beck--s-mercury-ink.html .

Barton's book, The Jefferson Lies, purports to "correct the distorted image of a once-beloved founding father", arguing that Jefferson was an orthodox Christian who did not believe that church and state should be separated .. http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/08/14/hard-truth-for-author-publisher-pulls-the-jefferson-lies/ . It was named the least credible history book in print last month by the History News Network .. http://hnn.us/articles/what-least-credible-history-book-print .., and two conservative Christian professors, Warren Throckmorton and Michael Coulter, even wrote a book criticising its claims, saying that "as Jefferson did with the Gospels, Barton chooses what he likes about Jefferson and leaves out the rest to create a result more in line with his ideology".

The new version "will not include any substantive changes, but I will rephrase some things to remove any potential confusion," he told Publishers Weekly. The evangelical writer will also include content cut by Thomas Nelson, he said, adding: "I have actually run across more supporting documents that strengthen my case, not weaken it."

Beck, the rightwing US radio host who has written numerous bestselling titles himself, launched his own publishing imprint Mercury Ink last year .. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/jun/02/glenn-beck-book-publisher .., in conjunction with Simon & Schuster. He wrote the introduction to Barton's book, saying that the title "takes on this long-held falsehood about the separation of church and state and proves once and for all that our Founding Father was no secularist", and that "the Left" know that "if they are able to discredit and dismiss Jefferson and our other Founders, then we are that much closer to surrendering our birthright and our natural freedoms".

Rick Perry of Texas, who enthusiastically backed a tenther "state sovereignty resolution," told a right-wing radio host that he is "willing and ready for the fight if this administration continues to try to force their very expansive government philosophy down our collective throats." Tenther-inspired claims that federal spending violates the Constitution are so common at "tea party" protests that it is impossible to tell where the tenthers end and the tea baggers begin.

In other words, it is all but certain that tenthers will play a significant role in selecting the GOP's presidential nominee in 2012. And if that nominee wins, the tenthers could even come to dominate the administration in the same way that the religious right set its hooks into George W. Bush.

goldstandard, 1st time here for me .. firstly, to ALL .. i'm not here to stir, not at all .. goldstandard, fact is i just didn't resist your "Hope Lib's stay away, I like to deal in facts and reality" .. that's why i'm posting this .. because your words there cannot be the fact, since you admire Glenn Beck.

Aside: Most say 'couldn't resist', i prefer 'didn't resist' sometimes, because i like to deal with facts and reality, t __ .. oops, can't say, 'too', because repeat .. IF you do like "to deal etc", then you could not be a big fan of Beck's .. some evidence of Beck's failings, which he readily admits to ..
