it does appear that with Bavi what has been happening in animals is happening in humans

Obviously way too early to make this statement, in my view.

I did listen to the NYAS presentation and found it disconcerting that several of the slides have been taken away from the presentation as apparently requested by the speaker. Do you have an explanation for this? Hard to make a definitive statement at this time on the presentation when slides are taken away. (I should point out that this is my first view of bavi and have not followed Peregrine or its clinical trials at all - the reason I looked at the presentation at all is because of all the strong views stated by you and others here. I am a biochemist and neurobiologist by way of my background, FWIW.)

What makes a renowned scientist? I would submit being a HHMI investigator by itself does not allow one to enter this club. As to NAS members, there certainly are those that have questionable reputations based on controversies on some of their publications. There is also a 'clubby' aspect to both groups, but there are definitely many renowned scientists in each. I would submit that what qualifies a scientist as renowned is the totality of the publications in terms of advancement of the specific science and the work standing up to the test of time. Reputation in the specific field is also a good qualification to have, and service at both Universities and Scientific Societies does not hurt, either. All in all, just plain good decision making couipled with the ability to tackle important scientific questions.
