yup, folks, 1500 miles for about 75 minutes of sleipner's time
(20 miles a minute...no i didnt tell em how far i had to come
but yes i told em far...lol)

quote from sleipner "ASNAP is the killer app!"

make no mistake they eagerly await full access to the ASNAP
code, at this point they are using comob

reason: the mot phone promo'd by gates that we discussed over
a year ago last summer (some may recall M Allards links to the
cool pics and my follow up post re an article that pre-dated
Allards pics...)

well that flip phone was manufactured by htc, fact is htc
d/c'd that phone (lucky clyw)...

so as MA said they liked the clyw phone because it used windows
ce/ mobile, now the deal was sleipner had been using the mot/htc
prototype for quite some time during their early development
stage (about 2 to 3 years ago)...clyw enabled to keep most of
their code and w/ little modification deploy comob in the clyw
phone

i asked the folkes at sleipner about the rumor about sliepner
being a partner w/ clyw, he said that he could not answer that
at that time and that in a few days there would be a new
partner announced (carrier) along w/ a detailed discription
of clyw & sliepner's relationship

i asked them if leon was around they all smiled and nodded i
mentioned that i thought that the rider patent was awesome
and that leon should have had a bonus, they smiled and gave the
"you never know" shoulder shrug...in response to my suggestion
that tis could be behind leons resignation

i also asked about rvtech and the clyw engineers, they were very
clear that they have been in constant contact w/ both groups
during various stages of the comob development

when asked about their confidence in rvtech as a design house to
work w/ an ems to get the phones into production they appeared
to have full confidence in rvtechs ability to deliver

i spent all my time at the sleipner booth except when i was
first trying to find sleipner on isle 200, i missed them
entirely at first and there was an empty curtan over a small
region so i thought i had missed them...(yes i was realy in the
dumps...)

(across from sleipner was data pilot so i talked w/ them for
like 2 minutes, thanked them for their product)

i was there long enough they charged up the phone and showed me
a demo, the sound was very clear, when there was no feedback
i could tell that they didnt want me to go walking off w/ the
prototypes so i settled for feedback but we tryed calling over
voip (line) to voip (wifi) and visa versa,

they noted that QOS was not realy an issue but did beleive that
the optimal situation would be to have ASNAP installed into the
access points

they saw the future for Sleipner's adoption of ASNAP was one
that would grow incrementaly, the biggest problem was the
carriers had to be "ASNAP compliant", as this would be
incrementaly be rolled out so would the features of the ASNAP
powered phones, initialy comob, an "ASNAP-like" techinolgy
realy a precurssor, then followed by imcreasing levels of ASNAP
quickly leading to the video conference phones...

they pointed to the clyw phone on a poster and showed how it
had a flip camera that would allow video conferences and
expected (early?) in 2006 to be rolling out the next generation
phones. the first generation phones would be / must be
moving into production by mid (?) october of this year, they
emphasized the word MUST...i think the trip to boston is the
calm before th storm where they will be working 24/7 to get'r
done...

we talked about wimax, they saw that as i have been saying but
i can tell that down the road there are some wories, but only
a few. the deal is downloads will be fast and at long distances
there is no doubt about that but the electromagetic radiation
from local uploading is very worysome, i told them that wimax
would not be viewed very favorably if it helped create
business for neurosurgeons...they whole heartedly agreed, i
mentioned that indoors realy they would have to relay back to
wifi anyway so we'd still have ASNAP and they agreed.

i asked them if the gsm phones could roam to voip in the us
even though we used cmda, they said yes, i said good then they
will later be able to demo the video confrence phones showing
the leaning tower of pizza ;), ma ma mia

they mentioned that china was on the table and said that any
thing w/ them would be instantly be huge. i mentoned that ASNAP
could be used in clinics were cellular reception was crappy and
that the clinic could windup making a profit from it they did
not agrue w/ me

all in all they think the future is bright for ASNAP, and that
the automatic billing is key, the savings in cost w/ better
convenience cant be beat, they also mentioned that they beleived
that the clyw phones should have no trouble being used for UMA
and thought that those systems could somehow be worked into the
ASNAP model of automatic billing...

had i not been so burned out from the drive out here id have
delved into some of bbaazz's unanswered questions a little
better

i think that's just about everything, i give them a solid A
and can see this realy happening, i whish GS were still CEO
but didnt hear the folks from Sleipner complaining about Davila
so we just as well roll w/ it.

it was good to be part of history, imho so w/ that i'll
wish you a good morning / evening and all of that

cheers
p2k
