Wook, regarding patents and exclusivity, the FDA posted this Q and A piece. It doesn't directly answer your timing question and the value of wrapping a patented cotreatment drug around an expired patent drug, but it provides some basics.

The timing surrounding patents is complicated, but the practical nature of bundling patent rights around expired patent products is indicated. I hope this helps.
