THE legs appear just as willing as the mind for Lleyton Hewitt after the veteran Aussie rolled back the years to beat Marin Cilic and set up a London Olympics showdown with Serb powerhouse Novak Djokovic.
Hewitt was at his dogged best as he downed the Croatian 15th seed 6-4 7-5 at Wimbledon this morning, with an tasty third round clash against the world No.2 seed his reward.
Few would give the 31-year-old much hope against Djokovic, given his recent form and the fact he has lost his past five matches to the second seed - his one and only victory coming six years ago at the US Open.
But with the foot injury which required surgery in February seemingly no longer a factor, Hewitt displayed the tenacity which helped carry him to world No.1 as he wore down Cilic.
"It's a great win and great to be back here," Hewitt said.
"Obviously it's going to be tough (against Djokovic), he's one of the favourites to get a medal here.
"But I'm going to go out and play my game, I've got nothing to lose.
"I'm going to go out there and take it to him and see what happens."
Hewitt peppered Cilic's suspect forehand throughout a tight contest.
His willingness to chase down a ball and make his opponent play an extra shot paid dividends when Cilic netted a forehand - one of 21 unforced errors - for the crucial break in the first set.
Hewitt wasn't able to capitalise on five break points during the second set before a Cilic double fault in the 11th game handed the Australian the chance to serve it out.
He duly obliged, but not before benefiting from a crucial overrule on a baseline forehand that left Cilic livid after an opportunity to go up 15-40 became 30-all instead.
