What they say they would do?

They, Allen, and not part of the presentation, making the comment he did, had an implied timeline saying when the new iPhone comes out etc and that's how the report was interpreted by the readers.

Whether his statement is appreciated at some point in time is the issue to me.

Did he say iPhone 4, 4S or 5?

No.

Should he have said anything at all?

Maybe not.
