That is absolutely incorrect. Without the bid, there would be no market. Supporting the bid is just as important as buying at ask for increasing the PPS. The bid is in actuality what investors are willing to pay. Low and shallow bids are a sign of minimal interest and/or lack of confidence in a stock.
