Yes, 'getting spontaneously logged out at weird intervals' ... at first i thought it was on inactivity but it just happened in between pages as i was flipping around fast, having just logged in .... Bob says upthread he thinks the whole system goes offline for an instant, that's what does it ... some sort of hiccup maybe ... but that's a workaround, to paste into a new window ... a few bugs are to be expected, they have new server capacity recently ... remember when Brad and Jeff would be playing around with development at night? ... lots of strange things, one time all weird colours, i thought somebody slipped something in my drink.
The whole CoB concept - well the whole concept of posts getting deleted by anybody for any reason - i just dunno ... why bother typing up a post after collecting all the quotes and urls and thoughts etc when your effort could get zapped on some real or imagined technicality .... why bother lurking a thread where you know you can't see the whole input .. what's the point ... i believe that typing fingers and eyeballs will gravitate to the forum that provides them with the maximum in education and/or entertainment, and beyond zapping spammers and gross offenders of decency i don't believe censorship will augment those levels.
Filtering at the user's option - well that would be like the ignore button on SI ... people will say they're putting somebody on ignore but they don't really, or they do and then peek every once in a while to see what the other is saying ... to leave the choice of filtering up to the reader, though - this is a step up from having posts just disappear from the record.
The record is important, it's the only way we have to judge a poster's credibility ... if they say something boring, the record will show them as boring ... if they make a nice call, they have the record standing to their credit ... if they make a bad call, they have the record standing to their debit ... if they're scammers, then especially the record should stand, for the edification of the rest of us, and of the law in some cases.
Something Jorje said disturbed me a bit - multiple threads are permitted for stocks, but only for stocks other than otc-bb traded issues ... and presumably pink-sheet promotions as well .... is this correct, can you confirm, Matt or Bob - are non-listed securities restricted to a single thread? .. a thread which in most cases if not all will tend to be initiated by persons with a vested interest in promoting the thing? .... this would not be wise imho - the opportunity of going elsewhere in search of freedom of speech would be closed on this site, people would go to other forums, that would be IH shooting itself in the foot imho.
