new ER season begin

Gainers:
Alcoa Inc. (AA) improved 0.23 percent to $8.78. The company slipped to a loss in its second quarter. Revenue declined 9 percent from the previous year primarily due to decline in realized metal price and realized alumina price, but was above the consensus estimate.

ASML Holding N.V. (ASML) rose over 6 percent to $51.51. Intel Corp. (INTC) announced it has entered into a series of agreements with the company intended to accelerate the development of 450-millimeter wafer technology and EUV lithography. Intel said it will initially purchase 10 percent of pre-transaction issued shares of ASML for about $2.1 billion. INTC declined over 1 percent to $25.85.

Decliners:
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) declined more than 10 percent to $5.04. The company lowered its second quarter revenue forecast, and currently expects revenue to decrease 11 percent sequentially. The company said lower preliminary revenue results are primarily due to business conditions that materialized late in the quarter, specifically softer-than-expected channel sales in China and Europe as well as a weaker consumer buying environment impacting the company's Original Equipment Manufacturer business.

MAKO Surgical Corp. (MAKO) plunged 36 percent to $15.74. The company announced that it expects to sell lesser number of RIO systems in 2012 than previously anticipated, based on the slower than expected start during the first six months of the year. The company also narrowed 2012 MAKOplasty annual procedure guidance.
