Your analysis makes the most sense. You have to be creative today -- in this tightened economy -- in order to make many of these deals work. Like you say, "we shall see." I like what Violette's done so far, and he's been fairly open about his dealings, to the point where he went out and bought LHPT shares on the open market to support SP. It's certainly worth a shot, at least.
