You cannot compare the two tragedies. On 911 neither the Hudson River nor the East River (surrounds Manhattan Island) did NOT flood the streets of Manhattan and millions of people were NOT ordered to evacuate and flee to other states. On 911 children/babies were NOT separated from families as in NO - because they are so young, these children/babies cannot even give the officials their names. On 911 old people, many sickly and confused, were NOT separated from their familiar surroundings.
The outstanding role played by New York's finest (PD) and New York's bravest (FD) is well-known, but you cannot compare two events. To do so would minimize either one or the other.
