how is AMR doing the transportation with the tickets bought for these disaster areas?

my daughter has bookings for october 26 thru nov.2 , 2005.

their booking are with continental airline. they will not release them for these areas. if they change anything it is a huge penalty to make any change for them.

is there ant recourse for them?
