Looks like the last hour of the day before labor day
dictated the gap direction for the day after labor day the past 3 years.

The two gap ups had attempts to fill the gap later on in the day. The stronger gap (2003 gap outside the 30 BB) took a week to get fully filled.

The gap down (2002) just keep going down that day. It took a week to get filled as well.
