I too thought the same thing. I called and verified before I donated (1-800-HELP-NOW). I was told two different phone calls that 95% of the money donated to the Red Cross goes to the victims.

That is enough for me, so I went ahead and did what I could. I will also be donating through work.

I think your idea about iHUB members is a good one, please let me know if that ends up happening. I too know someone from here that is down there in the heart of New Orleans and hasn't been online in 7 days.
