Satellites are wonderful for onscreen viewing.

Think wall, whiteboard and pushpins.

I am single-handedly responsible for generating large sums of revenue for IP, MMM and HPQ as both MEI (Mrs. EI) and my mom can attest. Mom really had a problem with stacks of newspaper in my room. MEI has taken over the fight. I then need somewhere to semi-permanently attach my ideas. Some of my best investing ideas come from articles misplaced for about three to six months and sometimes a year after the hype has worn off.

I told 56Chevy a couple of months ago about my vision of having a north-facing office with only whiteboards as walls when starting my own firm. Sounds strange? Not really. CNBC dedicated the entire Squawk Box on April 4 to those who worked with and knew the Fort Worth-based, legendary investor Richard Rainwater (video viewing recommended). One of the guests later told the story about Rainwater's whiteboard office. Bingo!
