The private ownership is not new, so it's not a reaction to the perception of the stock. I tend to think it's more like a buffer between the products and the people whose money is being used to promote and market them. It enables a shell corporation, the purpose of which is to put out PR statements, dilute, reverse split and repeat the process ad infinitum. When that stops working, management walks away with their brand equity and shareholders get nothing.
