Good possibility Russia/China militaries to help Iran

At the same time, the source said that cooperation in the military field between Moscow and Beijing could successfully develop within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

“Despite the fact that the SCO is a purely political organization, it has a military component whose role will continuously grow,” the source said.

In his earlier commentary to journalists, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Yury Baluyevskiy, did not rule out that the Russian and Chinese military might be involved in performing joint tasks within the SCO.

The coalition (SCO) will soon have another important member, Iran, currently due to enter informally in a few months time through the SCO "back door" because of a mammoth energy deal.

The US is already attacking Iran. As soon as Iran formally becomes an SCO member Chinese and Russian troops and/or weapons can ‘legally’ help Iran.

This is much smarter for Russia and China to develop a military arm of a regional organization such as the SCO than to stay with a Russia/China alliance only.

Moscow has ruled out the possibility of setting up a military bloc involving Russia, China and joint groups of troops, Interfax reported Wednesday quoting a diplomatic source.

“Today the issue of setting up a new military bloc involving Russia and China is not even being considered. Neither is the possibility of setting up joint troops structures being considered,” a high-ranking military and diplomatic source in Moscow told Interfax on Wednesday, commenting on the Russian-Chinese military exercise that is currently under way in China.

“I do not rule out that, if a decision is taken by the SCO, of which Russia and China are members, the armed forces of our countries may be involved in performing certain tasks,” Baluyevskiy was quoted by Interfax as saying.

Some 10,000 Russian and Chinese troops are currently taking part in a weeklong air, land and sea exercise, which includes a simulated naval blockade and amphibious landing.
