Doshbag, ad-aware is a programme that detects spyware.
When you download "free music" or get the services from a free site such as "live quote demo's" part of the terms of the agreement (that most people dont read)are that they will install programs on your computer that track what sites you go to, and what you download etc etc.....these types of programs are called spyware because most people don't know that its been installed on their computer.
Another form of spyware is when you get pop ups, this once again is the company's payment for giving you free software programs, most pop ups come from Gator also know as Gain.
You can scan you computer and get rid of these free loaders using ad-aware 6. But it's usually the price you pay for free services, Like "date manager" etc.
P.s. thanks Lanky, my Tech guy told me about Ad-aware and he hasn't had a problem either. But I'll still have a look at spybot and tell you what I think.
