You're right, ultramafic is correct, not just mafic. And no way that PGM's come from the breccia pipes in Copper Basin! Gold, maybe, but even the best of placers are sporadic, tend to be in narrow channels along bedrock or false bedrock (cemented zones), and do not form massive, disseminated deposits in alluvial materials. That seems to be the favorite con game right now, with numerous of these huge, billion-dollar placer mines being offered for sale throughout Arizona and particularly in the Skull Valley area for some reason (proximity to the salesmen in Prescott, probably).
As for hating the desert scams, I have come to the realization that posting facts and professional opinions on these chatboards is largely a waste of my time (although I don't mind responding to questions like yours). However, I posted a comment on one stock board recently (the most obvious scam ever), and took a look through the previous 200 comments or so. None had any questions, comments, or discussion of the merits of the so-called ore deposit that was being marketed. It tells me that the investors don't even care if the stock is a scam or not, they are simply interested in catching the highs and lows to maximize their profit. I know not all posters are "shorts" and there are people that really take an interest in what the stock is promoting, but I am starting to see a trend. Sadly, in the couple months I've been on InvestorsHub, I have gone from being a crusader to becoming a cynic! But, I will stay active, and probably more with private messages than public comments (unless I feel it will make a difference).
