BRENNAN WINS MID-AM: Tommy Brennan of Covington won the Louisiana Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship on the second hole of a sudden death playoff against Robby McWilliams. Brennan, winner of the event in 1995, '96 and '97, shot rounds of 70-69-70 for a 7-under 209 at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe. Brennan overcame a two-shot deficit after two rounds to tie McWilliams (67-70-72) and force a playoff. "I was four down after 12 on the final day and I birdied three of the last six holes and both playoff holes," Brennan said. "So I got hot at the right time. I think this one means more than the other three. I don't know if it's because I'm older now (44) but I've had opportunities to close the deal before. I was thrilled to close the deal this time."

Metairie's Bart Dornier finished in a tie for sixth at 217. Madisonville's Steven Vogel finished ninth at 218. Hammond's Grady Brame tied for 13th at 220, and Gonzales' Chad Braud finished tied for 36th at 230.

RESULTS

Alex G---- shot 74-74 for a 4-over total of 148 to win the Stroke Play Club Championship at the Golf Club of New Orleans at Eastover. Richard Cook won the net division with rounds of 68-78.
