I'd rather have the actual time line on the computer's adjustments as well, but reading between the lines of what NASA has said so far, it seems that the adjustments have been ongoing and getting more extreme before they got the heat spike. So something was already damaged and it was getting worse. The only explanation that I can come up with is tiles. Lots of them.
