ah, yes, then there is memory of, attitude inculcated in, and habit formed from the children .. home schooling
and all .. is it a defensive reaction? .. is the 'saying whatever comes into the head' an instinctive, reflexive
reaction born of insecurity, doubt, fear, whatever .. ?? .. an OT example .. lol .. a tiny story ..

an old guy intent on saving energy, and expense, arrives home late and sees a much younger guy's
room with the light on .. the light is often left on if not .. chuckle .. caught, all night .. knock knock
.. no answer .. again .. no answer .. louder KNOCK KNOCK and call out of a name ..

Hey there, _______ (friendly-like this time, lol) ..

"Yes?" .. comes a sleepy reply from inside the room ..

were you sleeping? .. (thinking, shit, not still after all our chats) .. "no" ..

an instinctive, reactive reply in defense of 'me' .. 'mine' .. the one who had
fallen asleep again with his light on just said what first came into his mind ..

We all might do it in an unguarded moment, though for those in habitual metacognition
mode it might be immediately mentally checked .. at least we hope the one in the little
story will learn .. too bad some seem to seldom consider "thanking about thinking" ..

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
