That's very sad. I feel very sorry for you. Sadly, greedy people can feel little empathy for others and are so self-centered.
While my loss was an inheritance from my Aunt I can still appreciate all of the hard and honest work she did to achieve and save it.
I can understand why you would buy more Common Shares after bankruptcy to average down your price. I did that with my investments too when the market was crashing but the stocks I had chosen did not recover.
