That's a good point. I agree that one needs to pretty much throw charts out the window for "sea-change" type events like upgrades, earnings releases etc. And they especially lack value on illiquid, low float, OTCBB stocks.
Basically, as you said I use them as a tool in my arsenal for finding buy and sell points, but I agree that they don't have any "predictive" power.
