Pulled this off Yahoo for the reason that RMBS is weak today. More FUD, actually false statements, from our semiretired Jack the Ripper. It is your basic terms of agreement that will never come to pass or replaced with new agreement.
RMBS IR should straighten yhis out by tomorrow.

Intel can collect royalties from Rambus, under clause in 1997 pact
By Jack Robertson

Intel Corp. would earn royalty fees from Rambus Inc. if Direct RDRAM ever takes off, according to a provision in the 1997 licensing agreement between the two partners. However, sources said Intel insisted on the clause, not to get a royalty revenue stream, but to put a cap on the fees Rambus would demand from DRAM firms to make its memory chip design.
If certain milestones are met, the 1997 accord states that Rambus would pay Intel all its royalties received from DRAM manufacturers above a 2% level from each producer.
Some sources at Platform 2000 Conference this week in San Jose, Calif., believed Intel wasn't trying to obtain a share of Direct Rambus DRAM royalties paid to Rambus, as much as keep Rambus Inc. from charging excessive fees from DRAM producers.
