Calavo Growers, Inc. (Calavo) is engaged in the marketing and distribution of avocados, prepared avocados, and other perishable foods. The Company delivers a range of fresh and prepared food products to food distributors, produce wholesalers, supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants on a worldwide basis. It procures avocados from California, Mexico, and Chile. Additionally, it also produces salsa and prepares ready-to-eat produce and deli products. Through its operating facilities in Arizona, California, Hawaii, New Jersey, Texas, and Mexico, it sorts, packs, and/or ripens avocados, tomatoes and/or Hawaiian grown papayas for distribution both domestically and internationally. The Company operates in two business segments: fresh products and CalavoFoods. On June 1, 2011, the Company acquired Renaissance Food Group, LLC, which is a food company that produces, markets, and distributes nationally a portfolio of products for consumers via the retail channel.
