...and a note on gold and the fed-- this reminds me of the days where the precious metals sector would take a shit at the notion that the BOE was selling gold into the markets with their periodic auctions. At some point, the auctions stopped mattering and gold stocks would rally into the event leaving the shorts rather naked without their shorts.

I see the same thing happening again.
