My intuition says that since it is not the presence of light that is the problem but the effect of the heat, then the right type of sun screen that absorbs heat and is not in contact with the surface would be like putting an opaque awning to reduce the temp but let the sun light in.
In fact as any concentrated light passed through a medium can be engineered to exit differently. Same principle.
