On the first two attempts, the capacitor bank didn't have time to charge, and a greater than unity performance was achieved. Therefore, as Gene said, capacitor discharge was ruled out.

I did not ask this question. Gene is the one who brought up the subject of the capacitor bank in our conversation, since it seems important to him.
