Then why don't the components deteriorate much over time? Explain to me where the electrons from a lightning bolt comes from??? Aurora borealis...Van Allen belts...Ionosphere...and so on.

The earth itself acts just like an electric generator/motor/engine...with a magnetic field, N and S poles and rotation in the same direction as the "right-hand rule" in physics says it should be. Electrons courtesy of our sun...and they arrive in an electromagnetic sprectrum form.

Out there...yes. Impossible...no.
