woohoo...I need all the chances I can get---maybe one of my guys can last halfway today (or whenever they get the race in)....
just a note on how they are doing today's bonus:
The Daytona 500 will have a record purse of more than $19 million, and a new bonus for the leader at the halfway point, Daytona International Speedway announced Wednesday.
The purse for the Feb. 26 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will be $19,142,601 with the winner earning at least $1.43 million. Second place will be worth $1.05 million while third earning at least $759,600, fourth $609,900 and fifth $486,550.
In a new twist, the leader at lap 100 will earn a $200,000 bonus. If the race is under caution at lap 100, the leader of the race at the completion of the fifth consecutive green flag lap following the caution will receive the award.
“There is plenty of incentive for drivers to run up front the entire race but even more so at the halfway point and the last lap of the Daytona 500,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood said in a news release.
Last year, the purse for the Daytona 500 was listed at $18.69 million
