Deano rejected the offer, he wants millions. As long as deano is involved with Q, his criminal actions a threat to the Q shell. Hence the offer to get rid of him despite the despicable notion of paying a guy who scammed millions.

It is about trying to salvage the shell, in hopes of one day, as far fetched as it may be, to get value for Joe and shareholders.
