Yes, but we've all seen plenty of the brief synopses of the problem. Nice to see an in-depth article like this. I lost $24K back in I think it was '01 invested in a small company driven into backruptcy by desperation for VC after the crash and stupid enough to take a Death-Spiral Finance deal that resulted in naked shorting, blatant naked shorting. Shareholders went to court, but it mostly involved entities outside our borders and was virtually impossible to prove, plus I think the court system was overwhelmed with stockholder lawsuits and probably largely unaware of this type of manipulation back then. That was right about the time I quit investing and began trading. Yet another lesson learned in the school of hardknocks!
