This is how venture capitalists and private equity firms make money EboJr. It's been a practice used, well, since time began for a business to get a jump start.
And it became part of the stock market since the stock market came into bein. What else does a start-up company have to offer a lender but stock, and or a portion of sales, royalties, etc.
I mentioned this in an earlier post, "Of course, with "normal" banks being such tight wads for the last 4 years, private equity is really the only option any growing business has right now."
Some venture caps or private equity firms specialize in obscure little companies starting up like HPGS, some specialize only in BIG ideas like Tesla.
It's a good thing, and I'm glad to see that Ironridge is selling not because our quarterly earnings are coming out, which was my first concern - But because it is their time to liquidate out of a host of companies in order to reallocate funds for their next group of start-ups. In and out, in and out, fast. That's what they do.
Good to see someone is buying those liquidated shares at these prices.
