I write this letter of assistance with a great sense of honour and responsibility. The decision to write to you was arrived at after a critical consideration of my daughter\'s worsening health condition.
Before I go any further, let me seize this great opportunity to sincerely apologise for the embarassment this letter might cause you as we have not had any correspondence before now, but due to the urgency, I decided to contact you.
My only daughter, thirteen (13) years old has been critically ill for the past three (3) months now and due to this illness, she was admitted at the Eko Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria. She has a blockage at her urinary system and as a result of this, it is impossible for her to urinate easily as the case is. The hospital\'s Management informed me recently that I need about $55,000.00 (Fifty-five Thousand Dollars) for a major surgical operation to be carried out on her at a specialist hospital in Hamburg, Germany. Sincerely, I do not have the money for the operation, already I am indebted to friends and well-wishers whom I have had to borrow money from all in an effort to save my daughter\'s life. I cannot stand the chance and watch my daughter die hence the major reason why I decided to contact you for your assistance in this transaction because as the case is now, I am left with no other option than to do it. I shall really appreciate your kind consideration of this proposal as you revert to me for further discussions and enlightenment on this issue.
THE PROPOSITION:

A foreigner, late Engr. Johnson Creek, was an oil merchant with the Federal Government of Nigeria until his death sometime ago in Kenya Air-Bus (A310-300) Flight KQ430 banked with us at Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Headquarters, Lagos, Nigeria and had a closing balance as at the end of September, 2000 worth $27,500,000.00 (Twenty-Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars) and the bank now expect a next-of-kin as beneficiary.
Valuable efforts have been made by the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc to get in touch with any of the Creek\'s family or relatives but to no success. It is because of the perceived possibility of not being able to locate any of Engr. Johnson Creek\'s next-of-kin (he had no wife or children that is known to the bank) that the Management of our bank, under the influence of our Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, arranged that the fund be declared UNCLAIMABLE and subsequently be donated to a discredited Military Trust Fund (MTF) here in Nigeria because no relative of the late Engr. has come forward to make a statement to the effect. In order to avert this negative development, some of my trusted colleagues and I now seek your permission to have you stand as the next-of-kin to late Engr. Johnson Creek so that the fund US$27.5 million will be released and paid into your account as the beneficiary\'s next-of-kin. At this point, I trust you can picture what the situation is like.
My colleagues and myself have made several attempts at locating person(s) that could be remotely related to him and we have been doing this for about two (2) months. We are therefore requesting for your help and we will be immeasurably grateful if you will be willing. We have access to most of what it will take to transfer the money but the only thing we do not have is someone who will work with us and act as the late Engr. Johnson Creek\'s next-of-kin. We will provide you with answers to all the security questions which you will have to answer to move the process towards completion. We will also provide you answers to questions that only a person related to the late Engr. Johnson Creek will know.
At the end of the transaction, you will stand to get 25% of this fund while 75% will be for me and my colleagues.
