JB - can you clarify something for me? In this statement, does "unbeliever" mean someone who doesn't believe in God (atheist) or someone who doesn't believe Jesus is Lord(i.e. a non-Christian)?

In trying to state the problem, we have not yet discussed Christ, so I assume you mean "unbeliever" to be "atheist". If so, can we add "sinner" to your list of the "impure"? I state the problem to be how God can restore ("take in" in your words) the impure, meaning those who deny He exists (atheists) and those who acknowledge His existence and authority yet fail to obey Him (sinners). Then your statement would be rephrased:

"I insist that if God cannot maintain His "purity" by taking in an atheist or a sinner, He does not exist as you postulate."

Is that OK? If so, I will prepare to respond to this. Thanks.
