SIGA's ST-246 has been developed as the US government asked and works 100% (most effective anti smallpox drug ever created) Now the negative news is behind SIGA in regards to drug ST-246's legal issues. Those issues revolved around the fight over rights to this wonder cure... facts are now coming out that both political parties wanted ST-246 and funded its development. ST-246 has been used to save a small toddlers life under emergency use authorization so it has indeed been tested on humans. Why would the government not want it stockpiled now?
New drug in development: ST-669 "broad spectrum anti viral" my understanding is that it works against 90% of viruses known to exist!!! This includes smallpox and in time could be used to cut PIP out. Today's best drug ST-246 could be replaced by tomorrows best drug ST-669. It's down the road sure however watch I am betting on some big news here. PARTNERSHIP = MONEY
Focus on ST-669 cause pressure on SIGA to respond and find funding for this drug shareholders. Post on other boards and to groups who need anti-virals that work. If people who are sick find out the government sits on this they may demand action. If they don't their families will! Post the word to medical boards and other Pharma boards each day if you want to help your investment. Pressure action we have the right this is AMERICA!!!!
The government is being negligent in not developing this "cure all" while spending "big money" for lesser drugs that don't have broad application... how about we have a congressional investigation into that instead of the waste of time investigations they peruse on a regular basis?
ST-669 works against viruses in the Poxviridae, Filoviridae, Bunyaviridae, Arenaviridae, Flaviviridae, Togaviridae, Retroviridae, and Picornaviridae families.
Many common viruses are in these families to include Hep C, and even the common cold as I understand it.
Dr. Dennis Hruby was quoted saying this: "In our work predating this selection, we identified ST-669 as a candidate compound with sub-micromolar in vitro antiviral properties against a potentially broad spectrum of Category A and B threat agents including viruses in the Poxviridae, Filoviridae, Bunyaviridae, Arenaviridae, Flaviviridae, Togaviridae, Retroviridae, and Picornaviridae families."
Also: Dr. Dennis Hruby, SIGA's Chief Scientific Officer, stated, "While still in the early stages of development, ST-669 is showing promise as a treatment for several dangerous diseases and this award will help us further our development of this program. There is a real need for a broad-spectrum antiviral like ST-669 to treat both the military and general population in the event of an outbreak. Although the disease itself may come from sources that are unpredictable, like a bioterror attack or an emerging virus, both origins highlight the necessity for a safe and effective countermeasure."
