Nah. You just sell instead of shorting. There is no financial trading profit advantage to shorting against the box. Your short shares aren't "reserved" either since they're tied to your own shares so if you sell your long position your broker will alert you to a forced cover if he can't find the shares to short elsewhere.

I have too much REAL WORLD experience naked shorting. This is a debate I can't lose.
