Thanks for the article by Josephus. Interesting, and much of it was what I thought was Jewish belief - Hades or Sheol, being split into two parts, one for the righteous and one for the condemned, and the place of the righteous being called the bosom of Abraham. All the dead reside there until the day of judgement.

Until reading Zeev's post, that is pretty much how I read the Old Testament. Zeev - if you happen to read this, how does Judaic though explain the almost continuous references by the prophets to the day of judgement and the Day of the Lord?
