Re: Deplin

Was it as a supplement?

Deplin is regulated by the FDA as a medical food, which is something in between a drug and a supplement. It requires a prescription and is sold at a pharmacy, but it does not carry a drug-like claim of treating a disease or mitigating a medical condition.

What was the generic?

The generic is automatically substitutable for branded Deplin by the pharmacy, just as with a prescription drug; most pharmacies that carry Delpin at all carry only the generic. Generic Deplin is actually an authorized generic and hence the product is quite expensive, as one would expect under quasi-monopoly pricing.
