I think it means environmental in the literal sense—i.e. perfunctory DD to ensure that INHX did not have some kind of a toxic-waste dump beneath its laboratories. (I’m being completely serious.)

It does. Environmental due diligence is part of the standard due diligence performed by buyers today on basically any deal (no matter what the industry and likelihood of any issues).
