Very true! Most of the research is academic and oriented toward publishing a paper. Many variables are of neccessity left out in order to get any kind of result.
The results get lost in what the academics think is noise. Chaos theory may be more a appropriate paradigm for technical analysis research. But the selection of the key variables is still equally important.
