Maybe you don't need them on the bottom as well as on the top.

They're pretty handy at the bottom when you're reading a really long message. Also, the way I'm doing it for the buttons interface, the overhead to display the same stuff at the bottom is zilch. The text version builds the links from scratch at the top and at the bottom. The buttons version builds it at the top, stores it, and just redisplays it at the bottom.

Also, would it make more sense for the Mark As Last Unread to be called Mark As Last Read?

In edit: possible bug: When I read the last message on this thread (the one by NoMoDo) and then went back to Favorites, the counter hadn't reset. That's new I think.
