That is simply wrong. If the goal is to chose a "convenient" number close to 2 standard deviations, we must consider what are convenient numbers.

The base 10 number system is clearly based on human finger count. A base 12 system is more rational, and would certainly have been the case if we had 6 things to count with.

In base 12, the "close" number would be .07(base12), this is far closer to 2 standard deviations than .05(base12) would be. The actual value of .07(base12) is .049(base 10).

But DD is right that they would likely go to .06, just like we have speed limits at 55/60/65/70 MPH. The ant world would be strongly opposed to odd numbers other than 3 (and to a lesser extent, 9, 27 ,...).
