The following companies were among those making notable moves ahead of Wednesday’s U.S. stock-market open:

Advancers

Investors showed just enough interest for Germany to successfully auction €5 billion of 10-year bunds. Martin Essex and Richard Barley discuss whether this is a sign of strength or weakness in light of the euro-zone crisis.

LCA-Vision Inc.’s LCAV +6.21% shares rose 8.1% after the laser-vision surgery chain reported a 30% hike in fourth-quarter same-store procedures.

TiVo Inc.’s TIVO +12.11% shares climbed 14% after the company said AT&T Inc. T +0.56% had agreed to make payments totalling $164 million to settle a patent-licensing dispute.

Decliners

Acme Packet Inc.’s APKT -19.05% shares fell 19% a day after the provider of network infrastructure trimmed its 2011 adjusted earnings and sales forecast.

BioMimetic Therapeutics Inc.’s BMTI -11.68% shares declined 12% after the firm on Tuesday said the Food and Drug Administration did not approve its application for a bone-graft device.

Progress Software Corp.’s PRGS -5.91% shares dropped 5.9% after the business-software maker late Tuesday projected first-quarter earnings under Wall Street’s expectations.
