It looks like Dew is hinting at some fundamental biology differences between us (as we are now) and us as insects... As two main side effects targeted by FDA are oncology-related and CV (and cancers had already been proposed and rejected here), I guess much more simple circulatory system of the insects can be a key. They lack heart (at least, what is heart in mammals), have open circulation system, and don't use blood to transport oxygen.
