S&P and the other companies who create indexes are behind the times and haven’t yet realized that the “drug” industry and the “biotech” industry have converged. Half of the 10-biggest drugs in the world are now biologics, and yet the companies who sell them are not deemed to be biotechs? That makes no sense, IMO.
