Any of you do any in door growing just to have something to watch grow? Possibly eat before the real growing time?

Trying to keep the power bill down but I'm really getting bored for garden time since last spring/summer was the 3rd coldest/wet on record which really took a toll on my growing season.

Discussed with the Wife today maybe we try to grow a tomatoe plant next to our wood stove for heat and get a single grow light bulb above it.
